Sugar Plum Doppelgänger

This week has been kicking my ass - MG was stuck out of town for a week due to car problems, and as soon as he got back we spent the night/early morning at the ER because he'd been having pain in his side. (no official diagnosis, but he's seeing his doctor this week. At least we know it's not appendicitis.) During his absence, I was taking care of a sick kitty - Minos was having tummy troubles as well, and he's finally starting to feel better...although I had to give him a bath last night thanks to a mishap in his litterbox. Minos is definitely not a fan of the hairdryer...or getting a bath. Top it off with an irregular sleep schedule, and I'm left feeling terribly out of it while I'm awake.

Anyway, I wanted to share a recent purchase with you and some great beauty information. I know there have been tons of posts, reviews, and videos of Revlon's Lip Butters, and I don't intend to write a review. I've been keeping a watchful eye out for them at drugstores around me - whenever I happen to find a display, there are only shades that I don't want, or open containers from other women testing/sampling the product. I was finally able to find an untouched, unopened tube in a shade that I wanted last weekend, so I quickly snagged it for myself.

mine, all mine!

Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum is a medium berry shade,
which would suit a number of skintones

this is another MLBB (my lips but better) shade, especially with the glossy finish
just enough color to enhance the natural color of my lips,
and I don't have to worry about what I'll look like if it wears off and I forget to reapply

I was curious how it would compare to my other favorite MLBB product,
Laura Mercier's Gloss Stick in Sugar Plum. Sadly, LM's version of Sugar Plum was a limited edition so I've been trying not to use it all the time, while I try to find a decent replacement.

Replacement found!

The swatches above show you just how similar the two Sugar Plums are. The LM version is more pigmented than Revlon's version, but not by much. LM's Sugar Plum has more of a pink undertone, but the difference is trivial for me. Overall, I'm really glad to have bought this lip butter - not only is it a dupe for one of my favorite lip products, but the Revlon lip butter is a dream to wear!

Have you tried the Revlon lip butters lately? What's your favorite shade?
