Dr. Jart Black Label BB Cream

I am soooo behind on posting this, but it's been sitting in my drafts so I might as well churn it out while I attempt to edit photos and come up with more blog entries.

In December I purchased some BB cream at a Korean market in NoVa. Here's a quick rundown on BB creams:
  • aka Blemish Balm Cream
  • created as a treatment cream for individuals who underwent laser surgery to protect their sensitive/delicate skin
  • gained popularity in Korea to cover up blemishes and soften/treat skin texture
  • many formulas contain whitening ingredients and/or sunblock for extra protection
The container says it contains SPF 25/PA++ and also whitens and prevents wrinkles. Also from the container: This unique triple action formula containing innovative active ingredients aims at covering skin imperfections, concealing blemishes, and activating skin rejuvenation. It also smoothes wrinkles and fine lines while providing sun protection to skin.

I've been using this off and on for the past 6 weeks or so, wearing it alone and using it as more of a base under my mineral foundation. Here's what it looks like out of the bottle:

That's actually a lot more than I would normally use on my face, since a little goes a long way and it can feel heavy if you apply too much. It looks kind of dark at first, but after applying it to my skin, my skin actually looks brighter:

My undereye circles are still visible after using the BB cream, but overall the rest of my skin gets a decent amount of coverage. You can see that my skin looks brighter with the bb cream on the left, and it's managed to cover up most of the redness on my cheek.

Here's a photo where I've applied the BB cream to the other half of my face, set it with some loose powder, and applied a little eyeliner and mascara. Excuse the odd face I'm making in the photo - when I'm tired my eye does a weird fold thing, haha. The BB cream alone brightens up my face and creates a really smooth and dewy finish.

I find myself using the L'egere BB cream more than Dr. Jart, mostly because the Dr. Jart cream makes my skin oilier during the day. I discovered that the silver label is meant for combination/oily skin, and this is geared towards dry skin, heh...but this was the only one when I bought it at the store. The coverage is a little better than L'egere, but my t-zone doesn't get as oily when I use L'egere in the morning (as a base or as my makeup with a little looks powder). I use the Dr. Jart cream if I'm only going out for a little while, or if I want to create a very minimal look. I still have to use a concealer under my eyes with both BB creams, but I didn't expect it to completely eliminate them :)

I'm not sure that I'll continue to use these creams when the weather warms up and it starts to get humid; my skin gets super oily in the summer, and I can only imagine what I'll have to do to keep the oil at bay, now that I'm living in a city that's in between two rivers.

  5. BB cream looks good on you! thanks for sharing, though im very much sceptical with bb creams myself!! I guess as long as they dont block pores then it's a good product to use over a conventional foundation me thinks.

  6. The coverage looks great and your skin does look brighter! Your skin was pretty radiant before though!! =)

I'm making a mental note to try the silver label instead, thanks!

Aw yeah I relate! I'm always scared of how my neck looks (since I can't really see it myself haha). Sadly, psoriasis and eczema are really common.. =T

Canon SD600, it's 3 years old or so. It's a decent camera, but there are definitely better ones out there! Hahha thanks! I didn't notice! I'll have to look myself haha

Yeah I've been using that pumpkin peel for 4 years+. I really like it!

  13. Oh another thing, is it possible for you to post the ingredients of this BB cream? I've been googling it but the only info I can find is on the active ingredients rather than the full ingredient listing. Thanks :)
